What was the happiest time of your life? I was my happiest when all three of our children were young. I loved watching them grow and learn and still want to snuggle. I’ll admit it got better when the babies started sleeping all night. I’m not sure that Scott ever did because he still roamed around late at night when he was in high school. As they were growing up, we went on short vacations. They were always well behaved when we took trips. Not the usual back seat fights. This was also a time when we were making new friends and doing things like bowling on Sundays with house parties after bowling. We went to football games in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and the boys’ basketball tournament in Des Moines with other couples. My parents were always willing to babysit so we took advantage of that often. I also enjoyed living near my parents and being able to see them often. Mom and Dad loved having me stop with the kids and Bob’s Grandpa and Grandma Kollman lived right behind my parents so we stopped there often too. The four of them came to the farm often and helped with gardening. I should have believed Dad when he said we didn’t need a whole long row of cucumbers. The pigs loved them though.
