Mandy was born on March 1, 1979 in the Charles City, Iowa hospital. In 1979 grandparents weren’t allowed on the maternity floor, so our first sight of her was on a TV screen in the gift shop. It was love at first sight for sure, Since Rhonda worked in Clarksville and we were right on her way to work we agreed to take care of Mandy four days a week. Her Grandma Roma kept her the other day. It was great taking care of her and we enjoyed watching her grow up. She was easy to take care of. Sometimes I think of her more like a daughter than a granddaughter. Even after starting school she rode the school bus to our house each day until she was thirteen. It was pretty sad and quiet at our house when she and her brother didn’t come out anymore. Mandy is married to Josh Brouwer. Mandy has two children, Justine and Kyler Grummitt, and two step-children, MaKenna and Jesse Brouwer. She has worked at Butler County REC since 2006. She takes after her father and loves to drive in the cruiser races with her brother. They have actually been known to win. Our grandson Anthony was born December 7, 1984 in Charles City, Iowa. He was just as cute and sweet as his big sister. When he was a little older Anthony was an escape artist and would sneak out of the house every chance he got. One day he hid from me around the corner in a closet and we searched the house and outside for him frantically. He couldn’t figure out why I cried when I found him. He reminded me of the day he was riding in an old golf cart and asked me to watch how fast he could go. He didn’t know it was in reverse and he crashed into our garage door. Luckily the garage door was in need of replacing anyway so it wasn’t a real big deal. One day he was laughing and when I asked him what was so funny he said “I just told myself a joke I hadn’t heard before .” Anthony married Michelle Pint and has her daughter Kendall as his daughter and his daughter Klaire Marshall. Anthony works at Mike Molstead Motors in Charles City in the parts department and lives in Nashua, Iowa. First place!
