Happy Times With Great Grandchildren

Robert Fenneman

Justin Grummitt came into our lives on October 7, 2002. She became a very important part of our lives since we helped take care of her part of the time. They lived in Aplington at the time and we would pick her up in Allison where Mandy worked. When Justine was going to school in Allison we would get her off to school and bring Kyler home with us three days a week. The other two days they would be with Janice Grummitt. We would pick her up after and stay at the house with them until Mandy got home from work. We played many games of bingo, had to spell the hardest words she could find for us, and watch many crazy dances that she and Keely Mapes made up. It was such a fun time for us. We had her and Kyler 3 days a week in the summer too. Justine had a way of tuning out the world if she was scolded. She would just sit and stare and act like she didn’t hear anything you were saying. When going through pictures to use there were so many of fun things we did. We carved pumpkins, colored Easter eggs, baked cookies, played ball and in general just enjoyed Justine and Kyler. Justine loved to help with things like washing windows etc. Where is she now that we could use her. Five generations of the Fenneman family. Edna Fenneman , Bob Fenneman, Rhonda Marshall , Justine Grummitt and her Mom Mandy. Kyler Grummitt was born March 7, 2007 in Waterloo, Iowa. He soon became a very important part of our lives and one of the cutest babies ever. Kyler loved to ride in the combine with Grandpa. A fun day at the toy museum in Dyersville, Iowa. Kyler showed sheep at the local fair and the state fair for several years. Kyler played little league for a few years and did cross County one year but decided sports are not for him. He does enjoy golf and I enjoy going out with him. Hopefully he will do golf in school next year. He started racing in Brooklyn this year and loves it. I’m sure he will continue with this. He has been a car nut since he could walk. Loved hot wheel cars and now can tell you more than you want to know about any model of car. Kyler has been a great help to us this last year or so by helping us with our yard work and anything else we need done. My all time favorite picture of Justine and Kyler. MaKenna and Jesse Brouwer were added to our family September 14, 2013 when Mandy married their Dad Josh Brouwer. MaKenna was born on October 7, 2002 in Waterloo, Iowa. She was born on the same day as Justine (her step twin) in the same hospital. MaKenna is a very pleasant girl and has been very active in school activities. She excelled in softball and archery and soccer. MaKenna was president of her FFA chapter in high school. MaKenna showed cattle and sheep for 4H and also shows cattle for her Grandpa and her Uncle Jim. MaKenna is going to college in South Dakota for agriculture related courses and still goes to cattle shows every chance she gets. She is working for Steck Farms and they also show cattle. When talking to her you know she is loving her job and does well at it. It was great having a one on one visit with her recently. A favorite picture of Kenna. Jesse was born May 8, 2006. Jesse is very artistic. We have a few very good drawing he did when he was younger and at our house. Jesse does a good job of acting in his school plays. He has been active in 4H and shown sheep and hogs at the fairs. Jesse has been very active in sports. He plays soccer and has played football. At this time he is a wrestler and doing very well. We are hoping an injury doesn’t keep him side lined for very long. He also loves to go hunting with his Dad.
