One of My Favorite Pass Times

Robert Fenneman

Shortly after we moved to the farm the owners of the bowling alley in Greene came out and asked us to join bowling teams. Joyce joined a team of lady bowler she didn’t know. Janice Metz was on this team and they soon became good friend. I joined a team of men from Greene. Through Janice I was introduced to Red and later joined the team of men from Clarksville. This introduced us to Bob Schwartz & Bob Kelm and Keith Becker. After a few years a mixed league of men and women from Clarksville was formed. We usually had lunch and partied at someone’s home after bowling on Sunday nights. This group of people ended up being the friends we still do things with today. Bob and Sherry Litterer, Bob and Ardith Voigts, Joyce and Merlyn Hirsch, Jerry DePuew, Darwin and Sharon Neihaus and, of course, Janice and Red Metz. We bowled in many tournaments and especially enjoyed the Petersen Classic. It was held in Chicago in an upstairs, very old bowling alley ,in a not so nice neighborhood. It was always a fun weekend away with friends.
