I’m afraid it wasn’t very romantic. Joyce was living with her sister Norma in Waterloo at the time. I picked her up to go to a dance at the Riviera in Janesville. I had put her ring in the glove compartment of the car. As we were driving I told her I had something for her and she should look in the compartment. I may have stopped the car for ONE kiss. We did turn around and go back to Norma’s to show them the ring and then continued on to the dance. Joyce was excited to show friends at the dance. She is still wearing it 65 years later.
